Man, I love bicycle riding. As a kid, bicycles were my life and I spent every waking moment pedaling my heart out. As I grew older, I kept riding, and most of my college days were spent on a bike. I even started working at a bicycle shop and was selling and racing bicycles. It really was quite the life.
For the practical-minded person, Bicycles can provide your with innumerable advantages and even the environment can fully benefit from this two-wheel vehicle. Bikes are economical and it can save you from spending a large amount of money on fuel or gasoline.
However, because the bicycle parts are so exposed, its important to keep them out of the weather. Pre-planning your bicycle storage at home is essential prior to buying a bicycle.
For people who need storage space out side of the house but do not have a garage, a bike shed is a great idea. You can even buy plastic bike sheds that are easy to erect anywhere in the back yard and can be used for storing bikes, garden supplies and any other yard item. Rubbermaid bike storage is one economical example of this. You can also use this if you want to ensure that your bike will be protected against any kind of weather. Rubbermaid bicycle storage is also affordable and can guarantee durability and quality.
Quality is important in a bike shed. You want a shed that will last for many years, and withstand the harshest elements year round.
If you do not have the budget to consider bicycle sheds, you can make use of the extra space of your garage. If you only have one bike you can install a wall mounted bike storage to protect your bike against physical damage.
You can also consider installing bike stand if you have wide floor space. Bike stands are intended for bike owners who have more than one bike, and are my favorite type of bike storage since it allows such ease of access. If you do not have enough floor space, you can consider installing ceiling-mounted bicycle storage. This bike storage idea usually uses a pulley. In installing a ceiling mounted bike storage, it is important that the hook is mounted properly to a stud to prevent your bike from falling from the ceiling and damaging vehicles (or people) below!
There are plenty of bike storage ideas you can consider if you do not have the money to make a purchase of bike sheds. Using your creativity, you can easily come up with less-expensive ways to keep you bike safe and clean. If nothing else you can use cheap hooks that are screwed into the wall or ceiling. While these hooks may not be as sexy or easy to use as some of the other ideas here, they are quite inexpensive.
The bottom line is, none of these bike storage ideas are hard to install, and it is imperative that you come up with a way to keep your bicycle indoors and safe from the environment.
And then, enjoy many years of happy riding!
